There is something I have not fully explained about Abstract Anomalies 2.0. For a long time I considered leaving it that way. With abstract work, I usually prefer to leave room for discovery. I like when images are allowed to live in someone’s mind before language defines them. I like when viewers bring their own interpretations to what they see.
And if I am being honest, part of me hoped some people might notice the pattern inside this collection without me ever divulging it.
But enough of the sequence has now emerged that it feels right to finally lay it all out.
Abstract Anomalies 2.0 is not simply a collection of images. It is a symbolic lifecycle told through ten anomalies.
From the beginning, the series was designed as a progression. It traces the evolution of energy into awareness, awareness into life, and life into transformation. Each anomaly represents a stage in that unfolding system.
The images are not isolated works. They are positions within a sequence. Once the work is understood this way, the titles stop reading like names and begin to read like coordinates inside a larger architecture.
Forces.
Roles.
Moments within an evolving system.
That has always been the story. I simply had not said it out loud yet.
The Shape of the Sequence
At its core, Abstract Anomalies 2.0 follows a progression that appears again and again across mythology, philosophy, biology, and human experience.
Something begins.
It fractures.
It awakens.
It rises beyond its original state.
It becomes capable of understanding itself.
Energy begins to circulate.
Signals begin to ignite.
Separate forces begin to form something whole.
And eventually, that system must confront what lies beyond its first form.
That is the shape of this collection. Not literally and not academically, but symbolically. The sequence traces a movement from origin toward transformation. In many ways, it mirrors the lifecycle of living systems and the arc of human existence at the same time.
Viewed one way, the anomalies resemble the formation of a living organism.
Viewed another way, they resemble the stages of awareness and life itself.
Both readings can exist at the same time.
The Architecture of the Titles
The titles form the structural spine of the system. When placed in order, they create a progression.

The first eight identities now establish a progression from origin toward wholeness. The final two remain concealed, holding the last stages of the lifecycle.
The architecture is becoming clearer, but the story is not yet complete.
Act I: Emergence
The first movement of the sequence represents the birth of awareness.
Nucleus
“The Origin”
Every system begins with a center. A nucleus is not simply a beginning. It is a concentrated point of potential from which everything else emerges. The singular spark. The compressed seed before expansion. That is why Nucleus stands at the beginning of the sequence. It represents origin itself.
Fragmented
“The Visionary”
From origin comes expansion. And expansion fractures unity into multiplicity. What was once singular becomes many. But fragmentation is not failure. It is the beginning of perception. Visionaries are the ones who recognize patterns where others see chaos. They sense coherence inside broken pieces. Fragmentation allows the system to begin seeing itself.
Levitate
“The Enlightened”
After fragmentation comes lift. Nucleus is compressed. Fragmented is scattered. Levitate is the first release from density.
Levitation symbolizes awakening. It marks the moment awareness begins to rise above the limitations of its original state.
Perspective expands. Understanding begins to take shape.
Act II: Expansion
The second movement represents the rise of the system into something resembling life.
Ascension
“The Transcendent”
Levitation is the first lift. Ascension is elevation with direction. Here the system moves beyond the boundaries of its original frame entirely. Awareness expands into a larger field of perception. This stage represents transcendence. It is the moment when consciousness surpasses the limits that once defined it.
Oracle
“The Seer”
After transcendence comes interpretation. The system becomes capable of recognizing patterns within itself. An oracle does not create the system. An oracle reads it. It perceives signal within anomaly. Meaning begins to emerge.
Artery
“The Lifebearer”
Insight alone does not make a system alive. Life requires movement. Circulation. Flow. Arteries distribute the current that sustains living organisms. They carry energy through the body and allow the system to function as a whole. Symbolically, Artery represents the moment when life begins to move through the structure. The system begins to circulate its own energy.
Synaptic
“The Catalyst”
If arteries carry life, synapses ignite it. A synapse is the point where signals jump between neurons. Where connection becomes activation. Where one node sparks another. This stage represents ignition. The moment when the system becomes capable of transformation.
The System Takes Shape
With the first seven identities, the symbolic progression has established the forces necessary for something resembling life.
Origin.
Vision.
Awakening.
Transcendence.
Insight.
Circulation.
Ignition.
Each stage introduces a different function. Each contributes something the others cannot provide on their own.
But there is a distinction between a system possessing the necessary components of life and those components functioning together as a unified whole.
A nucleus establishes the beginning. Fragmentation creates differentiation. Awareness emerges, expands, and begins interpreting its surroundings. Circulation distributes energy. Synaptic connections allow signals to travel and trigger responses. Individually, these stages describe the development of a system. Together, they begin to suggest something more. Something capable of functioning as a whole. This is where the sequence changes. The first seven identities establish the architecture. The eighth begins to reveal what that architecture has been building toward.
The Hidden Progression of Scale
There is another pattern running through the titles. They move through different orders of scale.
Nucleus suggests the atomic core.
Fragmented suggests structural differentiation.
Levitate suggests release from density.
Ascension suggests movement beyond a plane.
Oracle suggests cognition and interpretation.
Artery suggests biological circulation.
Synaptic suggests neural activation.
Coalescence suggests the formation of a unified whole.
The sequence evolves from core energy into something resembling a living organism.
From center to consciousness.
From potential to intelligence.
From separate functions toward a recognizable form.
What begins at the smallest conceptual scale gradually expands into something capable of movement, perception, and connection.
And with Coalescence, those functions begin to suggest an identity beyond their individual roles. The progression is no longer represented only through separate forces. We are beginning to see what those forces might become together.
Act III: Completion
The first seven anomalies describe emergence, expansion, and activation. The final three explore what happens when those forces begin to form a complete existence. Every living system eventually confronts three things.
Wholeness.
Mortality.
Whatever lies beyond its first form.
With the reveal of Coalescence, the first of those three stages is now visible.
Coalescence
“The Becoming”
There is a point in the evolution of any system when its individual parts begin to function as something more.
Separate forces become connected.
Independent processes begin working together.
What was once a collection of elements starts developing a recognizable identity.
That is Coalescence.
The title describes the process of coming together, but the subtitle, “The Becoming,” is just as important.
Because becoming is not the same as being complete.
It is the transition.
The moment when everything that came before begins to take form.
And there is something particularly interesting about the photograph itself.
Among the shifting light, shadow, and reflections, something almost human appears to emerge from the darkness.
The photograph originated from light reflecting off a wet surface during one of my walks through the city. What caught my attention was how the reflections, shapes, and shadows seemed to arrange themselves into something recognizable.
But recognition is subjective. What one person sees may be entirely different from what another discovers.
That is part of what has always interested me about abstract photography.
The image does not need to represent something literal to suggest something familiar.
And within this particular sequence, that relationship becomes especially relevant.
After origin, perception, awakening, transcendence, insight, circulation, and activation, we arrive at an image that appears to be taking on an identity of its own.
Coalescence represents the approach toward wholeness.
Not the finished product.
The process of becoming one.
IX. Unrevealed
The ninth identity remains concealed. Its place within the sequence will explore mortality, the inevitable reality that accompanies existence. Everything that emerges, develops, and becomes alive must eventually confront the limits of its own form. Mortality introduces a different dimension to the system. Until this point, the progression has been concerned primarily with emergence, growth, and transformation. The ninth stage turns toward the boundaries of existence itself.
Its name and image remain unrevealed.
X. Unrevealed
The tenth and final identity also remains concealed. It will explore whatever lies beyond the system's first form. If the ninth stage represents the confrontation with mortality, the tenth asks what follows. Whether that represents an ending, a transformation, or something else entirely remains part of the final identity's story. The sequence began with a concentrated point of potential. Its final stage will explore what becomes of that potential after the lifecycle has run its course.
Where the Sequence Goes Next
With Coalescence, the collection has entered its final movement. What began as a nucleus has progressed through fragmentation, awakening, transcendence, insight, circulation, and activation. Now those forces are beginning to form something recognizable.
But becoming is only the beginning of Act III. The final two identities will confront mortality and whatever exists beyond the system's first form. In that sense, the collection is not simply moving toward a conclusion. It is following the same fundamental questions that have shaped the sequence from the beginning.
Where does existence begin?
How does awareness emerge?
What makes something alive?
What happens when its separate parts become whole?
And what remains when that existence reaches the limits of its first form?
These questions are not intended to have definitive answers. They provide the symbolic architecture through which the photographs relate to one another. Each image can still stand independently. Each can still be interpreted without reference to the others. But together, they tell a different story. One that began with origin and continues toward transformation. The sequence is still unfolding. Not simply an ending. A passage into whatever comes next.
Current Custodians of the Sequence
The collectors in this series do not simply hold images. They hold stages. Each becomes the custodian of a role within the system.
